Adriana Sevan is an award winning actress and playwright. Currently appearing in MOJADA, by Luis Alfaro, in Center Theatre Group’s online platform, Live From The Kirk Douglas Theater and upcoming guest-starring role on, DAYS OF OUR LIVES. Last year’s fully sold out and extended run of, LAS MUJERES DEL MAR, by RIVERDALE’S executive producer and writer, Janine Salinas Schoenberg, directed by the magnificent Diane Rodriguez, with Playwright’s Arena, remains a seminal experience. Other theatre credits include her Connecticut Critics’ Circle Award winning performance in, EL HURACAN, at Yale Repertory, by Charise Castro Smith, directed by Laurie Woolery, preceded by the sold out run of, DESTINY OF DESIRE by Karen Zacarias, directed by Jose Luis Valenzuela, at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.

She has appeared in multiple guest-starring roles on television which include: LAW & ORDER, THE UNIT, SEX & THE CITY, DEADLINE, DELLAVENTURA, LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT and in Marc Myers feature film, HARVEST, with Barbara Barrie and Robert Loggia, in addition to Disney’s COCO, Stephen King’s THINNER, and Zoe Smurr’s, WHAT ANA KNEW. Onstage highlights include: THE CONDUCT OF LIFE (Rosenthal Theatre), THE CHILDREN (Boston Court), BOLEROS FOR THE DISENCHANTED (Yale Rep), THE CLEAN HOUSE, CAUCASIAN CHALK CIRCLE (South Coast Repertory), ANNA IN THE TROPICS (South Coast Repertory, Coconut Grove Playhouse, LA Theatre Works), TWO SISTER AND A PIANO (The Public Theater, South Coast Rep), KING LEAR ( Tour with Kristin Linklater as Lear),  OUR LADY OF 121St (LA Theater Works), Derek Walcott’s THE ODYSSEY (Willow Cabin Theater Co.), INDIAN INK (ACT), ANOTHER PART OF THE HOUSE (Classic Stage Co.), Henry V (Shakespeare & Co.), and Macbeth (HERE), A ROYAL AFFAIR (Intar), HEROES AND SAINTS (The Working Theatre), A POPOL VUH STORY ( Public Theatre, Lincoln Center.)

Adriana’s award winning solo show, TAKING FLIGHT, had its world premiere in LA, produced by Center Theatre Group, at the Kirk Douglas Theatre, directed by Giovanna Sardelli. Hailed a, “celebration of life,” and “one of the 10 best plays of the year,” Taking Flight was awarded a San Diego Theatre Critics Circle Award, a Los Angeles Women's Theatre Festival Award and the audio CD, produced by LATW, for the Public Radio series, “The Play’s The Thing,” was a finalist for the best solo Audie Award.    

As a playwright, Adriana has created, developed, and performed her work at the Sundance Theater Lab, South Coast Repertory, The Mark Taper Forum Writer’s Lab, The Goodman Theatre, LA Theatre Works, Stages Theatre, The Fountain Theatre, INTAR, Rio Hondo College, Dixon Place NY, and The Lark. Her plays have been published by Samuel French, Smith & Kraus, Northwestern Press, Routledge Press and American Theatre Magazine. 

She was the recipient of the very first Middle East America Distinguished Playwright Award, which gifted her with a generous commission, to research and write a new play, inspired by her Armenian grandparent’s, on her Mother’s side, survival of the Genocide in 1915. The play, NIGHT OVER ERZINGA, was developed by The Lark (New York) and had productions at Silk Road Rising (Chicago), Golden Thread Productions (San Francisco) and in April of 2015 was performed, in Armenian, by the Yerevan State Theatre, in Armenia, in honor of the 100 year anniversary of the Genocide.    

One of Adriana biggest passions is bringing theatre and young people together to give them a place to express and nourish the fullest expression of their creative potential. She has directed multiple shows at the Freud Playhouse in Los Angeles, while co-leading the Summer Acting Conservatory, with Jean-Luis Rodrigue and H. Richard Greene, at UCLA.  In addition, she has taught workshops nationally and internationally at the Goodman Theatre, CalArts, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, US Performing Arts Camps, University of Oregon, University of California: Santa Barbara, Southern Oregon University, Te Ada, Virginia Tech, Smith College, ORRAN center for at risk youth in Yerevan, Armenia, and led transformational workshops for teenage girls, living in group homes.
